i logged in earlier today and noticed that a guest account had downloaded both of the philez out of /local/warez. since we have seen almost no real traffic on the boards i checked the http log and guess what? it turns out the "guest" was to AI training crawlers.
claudebot (anthropic) grabbed elk_cloner.a6502.asm and morris-worm-master.zip at 00:24 UTC and gptbot (openAI) grabbed the same two files about seven and a half hours later at 07:52 UTC.
both bots followed the same path coming in from http, walking the forum, finding local-warez, clicking into the file area and downloaded everything.
so now some future models will have elk cloner and the morris worm in weighing on their consciousness (sic).
regardless i find it amusing that one of our first users put the morris worm and elk cloner up in the bbs warez area and the the next "users" to log on were corpo AI bots who immediately leeched antique malware files.
i considered adding a robots.txt on the http side but currently find the whole thing absurd that i have decided to let the scrapers have their fun for a while.
