    I can remember the days when some BBS software on what are now "retro" systems defaulted to ~40 chars/line. I am not sure what it would look like if it got quoted a bunch of times in a reply thread, but the original and "first quoting" didn't break anything here.

    There is a new bbs running on an old apple ii, and old retro system is so user unfriendly.

    Yeah, back in the 1980s there used to be a popular board where I lived that
    was an apple ii board. I don't remember what software it ran, but it was
    very, very different than all of the GT Power, WWIV, PC Board, or Commodore boards that were around then.
